Unit 1
-- Street Litter Characterization: a citizen science project towards Plastic Free Biosphere!" is available as a beta version now by request ->

OVERVIEW
Through surveying and analyzing local street litter, students gain hands-on understanding of how plastic street litter contributes to a global plastic marine pollution crisis. Their local knowledge and litter data contribute to a national database and can be used for student-designed solutions for change.

  • Screen our plastic free education videos first to engage students on the topic.
  • Host a virtual MICROPLASTIC MADNESS screening; free for Title One schools.
STUDENTS:

Make your own no-sew reusable bag

from an old t-shirt

 - 5 steps in 10 minutes!

Watch our short how to video ->
100 billion plastic bags are used annually in the US
and only about 2% of them are recycled
.

Plastic bags are polluting
from the start of production to end of life.
They easily become windblown litter
that pollutes our waterways and kills marine life.

Our VISION
We envision a plastic free, equitable zero waste future where landfill and incinerator garbage as we know it no longer exists;
where post consumption waste from food to packaging is drastically reduced
and what remains benefits our schools, communities, and the environment.
